Bronze statue, dated 1955, representing King Sancho I, the second King of Portugal; he is wearing a crown and a tunic overlaid by a royal mantle; he is also catching a tip of the mantle with the right hand, while the left hand is holding the handle of the sword.

The statue was commissioned by the State aiming at the celebration of the granting of the Charter to Guarda by King Sancho I, on November 27th 1199. The author of the statue was António Duarte (1912-1998), it is 270 cm high and it was inaugurated on May 28th 1956.
