Castanheiro Gigante de Guilhafonso (Giant chestnut in Guilhafonso)

As its trunk's perimeter is 12 metres wide, at least nine people are needed to embrace it; it is 19 meters high and the top of the tree has an average diameter of 25,5 meters. In 1971 this giant chestnut was classified, by the Institute of Nature Conservation and Forestry (ICNF), as of public interest. He was among the ten finalists of the competition “Tree of the Year 2022”, having reached third place in 2023.
