It is a fortified settlement of the Bronze and the Iron Ages. It integrates an enclosure with two lines of walls where, in the centre, there is a preserved place of worship with an inscription in an indigenous language (lusitan), but with a Roman alphabet.

There is a strong line of walls with visible remains of houses and the ruins of a church. The site may have a wide occupancy diachrony that can go back to the Iron Age. In Roman times, the imperial route linking Mérida to Braga would exist in the surroundings. The place must have been completely abandoned in the 14th century once, in the reign of King Dinis, the royal documentation still mentions the existence of a village with a church.
