There are more than 70 gargoyles in the higher places of the exterior of the cathedral that allow people to be curiously delighted by the repertoire of the fantasy and seemingly profane imaginary of the 15th and 16th centuries.

The gargoyles of the cathedral exhibit a greatly hermetic decoration to one´s eyes, but one must bear in mind that medieval men and women knew the biblical symbology perfectly, through the bibliae pauperum, which were quite popular and true compendia of spirituality in the Western Middle Ages. Therefore, these representations would not be strange to their contemporaries, to whom they conveyed an understandable message and with great moral symbolism.
