The origins of the parish of Gonçalo Bocas are lost in the depths of time. Gonçalo Bocas was religiously linked to the parish of São Pedro but as an independent parish it dates back a long time, as can be verified in the archives of the District Archive of Guarda, specifically in the Baptisms of 1563-1701, where Gonçalbocas is mentioned as a parish. As José Osório da Gama e Castro explains in ‘Diocese Do Distrito da Guarda’, at the end of the 17th century there were 60 houses and 240 souls, and in 1902 there were 72 houses and 310 inhabitants’.The local parish day is celebrated on the first Sunday of December. The parish has a museum, known as Museu da Eirinha, a facility with three separate areas located on the main square of the village, as well as a picnic area near the stream.Religious Patrimony: Main Church of Gonçalo Bocas (‘Nossa Senhora da Graça’ Church) and the ‘Santa Bárbara’ Chapel.
