Rocamondo

 Avelãs de Ambom and Rocamondo Parish Council is established in Rocamondo. The parish of Rocamondo is one of the most remote settlements in the municipality and yet traces of this ancient human occupation are very rare. The story of its origins and subsequent evolution is somewhat confusing, due to the lack of documents and data that provide enough information to allow any conclusions. One of the clear signs of the antiquity of the village is the very origin of its toponym, about which J. Piel wrote that ‘Rocamondo’ could not be the common name ‘roca’; the historical origin of the village must be in the rustic property of a ‘Rocamundus’, its owner, prior to the nation's origins.The parish of Rocamondo has some outstanding historical and cultural treasures, namely the parish church ( São Pedro Church), the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora Fátima, the Parish Social Centre, the Sequeira Church, the watermills, a community oven and a water fountain.
