Located within the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, the mountain landscapes of the two villages have been moulded by the Mondego river and the Caldeirão stream.Trinta, once known as the ‘Manchester of the Municipality’, was an important manufacturing centre in the municipality of Guarda. Along the Mondego river banks, there are still standing some of the factories that were built to produce woollen goods, which used the water's impetus to run the mechanical engines when there was no electric power. In 1896 the Trinta Parish Council donated the necessary plots of land for building the Pateiro hydroelectric power station on the right bank of the Mondego river, located south of the village of Trinta in a place known as Pateiro, in exchange for residents benefiting from electric power, which was officially inaugurated on January 6, 1912, turning Trinta into one of the first villages in the country to benefit from electric power. A few years later, industrial companies set up modern units in the area around Trinta to produce woollen goods, permanently moulding the urban landscape of the village and providing hundreds of jobs. This growth also led to the establishment of a number of amenities, which are still going strong today as the factories closed down and the demographic decline continues.Religious Heritage: Trinta Parish Church (Igreja de São Pedro), Nossa Senhora do Soito Chapel (Trinta), Nossa Senhora das Candeias Chapel (Trinta), Espírito Santo Chapel (Trinta).Points of interest: ancient houses with traditional Beira Alta architecture, Mondego Walkways, archaeological textile heritage along the Mondego river, Pateiro creek and hydroelectric power station, Caldeirão reservoir and riverside beach, Trinta belvedere. The Corujeira and Trinta parish council is located in Trinta.
