A village located not far from Guarda, it was called ‘Porcas’ until the 16th of January 1928 and has the village of Albardeiros as an adjoining area. It was one of the first parishes to have electricity and the town council rewarded the fact that the drinking water supplied to the city came from this parish (Quinta da Montanheira), from where it was piped to the city for domestic consumption. The parish of Vale de Estrela has Albardeiros as an adjoining village.

There are many interesting cultural, religious and scenic attractions in the area. Of particular importance are the clock tower, the fountain, the granite balconies and the hydrographic belvedere located at the convergence site of the hydrographic basins of the Douro, Tagus and Mondego rivers. Along this unpaved path, the wind turbines track (which connects Aldeia do Bispo, Albardeiros, Fontão, Fojo and ends at Vela) we find Penedo Depois, a privileged location which allows us a 360° view of the village and even the highest spots in Guarda. Following this same path we can also visit part of the old ‘Talefe’ on the edge of the parish of Aldeia do Bispo, also located at a very privileged altitude allowing us to have a 360° view of the surrounding areas (Belmonte, Vela, Guarda), the hillside villages of the Serra da Estrela Natural Park, and even the Jarmelo fort on the horizon. Along the paths and tracks of the parish you can enjoy unique landscapes, natural surroundings and some native wildlife. Near Quinta da Montanheira, the Noéme River has its source on a hillside where you can still find the ruins of the old mill and the ‘millstones’ (stones used to grind wheat and rye). As far as religious heritage is concerned, there is the Chapel of Sra dos Milagres, which features the iconic figure of Sra dos Milagres on its altar, the tribute memorial to the revelations of Fátima situated in the Calvário neighbourhood, Nossa Senhora, the ‘Alminhas’ (little shrines) in different spots in the village and the parish church with its patron saint, São Silvestre. Senhor dos Esquecidos (Lord of the Forgotten) is one of the most well-known saints and every year, on the third weekend of May, there is a celebration in his honour.
