The parish of Vila Franca do Deão is a small village in the municipality of Guarda, located north of the city at approximately 17 kilometres from it. It has São Tiago as its Patron Saint. It shares borders with the municipalities of Pinhel, Trancoso and Celorico da Beira. It has a small adjoining village, Trajinha. Agriculture and construction activities provide the main sources of income.

. The parish church in honour its patron saint, São Tiago. The celebrations in honour of S. Tiago are usually held every 3 years in August.. Chapel of Santo António: In honour of Santo António every year on the 13th of June, the parish holds a celebration with a mass and procession in praise of the saint. On that day, there is a pilgrimage involving all the animals around the church and in the village square, to ask the saint to ‘bless’ and ‘protect’ the animals.. Fonte da Lameira (Lameira Fountain): where the local community used to get their drinking water before there was any piped water, and also afterwards, as the water was extremely refreshing.. Cruzeiro do Bispo ( The Bishop's Cruise): a stone cruise held in honour of a bishop who died in the parish on the day he was to celebrate the sacrament of the Chrismation. According to the story, on the Bishop's arrival in Vila Franca do Deão to celebrate the day, firework was thrown and the horse the Bishop was riding on was drinking water from a peephole and eventually became frightened and ran off, causing the Bishop to fall and die. A stone cross was then erected on the spot.The parish of Vila Franca do Deão has Trajinha as an adjoining parish.
