In addition to gastronomy, the region stands out for the quality of its wines. The Comissão Vitivinícola Regional da Beira Interior [Regional Wine Commission of Beira Interior (CVRBI)] is headquartered in Guarda, in the Solar do Vinho da Beira Interior (a manor house), a few meters from the cathedral and near the wall.

Online or in loco one can purchase more than 140 different wines from the region among white, red, rosé, sparkling and late harvest wines. The CVRBI covers the wine-growing areas of Castelo Rodrigo, Pinhel and Cova da Beira, in the districts of Guarda and Castelo Branco, which correspond to an area of 20 municipalities, where there are close to 5000 winegrowers. In its area there are about 70 wine producers, 4 cooperative wineries and other private producers.
